Senior UAE Diplomat Rejects Iranian Claims of Attacks Launched from UAE
Anwar Gargash, a top diplomatic adviser to the Emirati president, responded to the claims in a statement shared on the social media platform X. He said the accusations followed what he described as “1,909 brutal Iranian attacks” targeting the UAE.
According to Gargash, Tehran’s conduct reflects a strategy that has become increasingly erratic.
He said Iran had “misidentified the target, lost the compass, and abandoned wisdom.”
Despite the tensions, the adviser emphasized that the UAE retains the right to protect itself from what he called “terrorist aggression.” At the same time, he said the country continues to show restraint, prioritizing diplomacy and rational dialogue while seeking a way to reduce tensions for both Iran and the wider region.
Gargash also criticized the remarks made by Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, arguing that the justification he offered “condemns his own country, deepens its isolation, and exposes its aggression.” He added that Araghchi is aware the UAE had been actively trying to mediate between United States and Iran until the final moments before hostilities escalated.
Earlier, Araghchi had claimed during a televised interview that recent American strikes targeting sites on Kharg Island and Abu Musa Island originated from neighboring territory.
“These last night attacks were tracked by our forces, and now it is clear that they were fired from the UAE. This is unacceptable," he said.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump stated on Friday that US forces had destroyed all military targets located on Kharg Island. He also warned that additional strikes could target the island’s oil facilities if Iran continued efforts to obstruct maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
