Event Highlights Strength as a Leading Asian Transit Hub and Opportunities to Expand Transit Tourism in Korea
LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Los Angeles Office, in collaboration with Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) and major airline partners, successfully hosted “Gateway to Korea: Los Angeles, 2026” on Thursday, August 27, at The LINE Hotel in Los Angeles.The event brought together approximately 90 travel industry professionals from the U.S. West Coast to showcase Korea’s diverse tourism offerings, Incheon International Airport’s world-class transit infrastructure, and its extensive air connectivity. The event aimed to strengthen awareness of Incheon Airport’s competitiveness as a key transit hub in Asia while encouraging more travelers to experience Korea as part of their journey.
During the event, KTO introduced Korea’s latest travel trends and diverse tourism offerings, emphasizing that Korea is more than simply a connection point and can serve as an appealing destination where travelers can enjoy new experiences as part of their transit journey.
Representatives from Korean Air, Delta Air Lines, and Air Premia presented their respective route networks and service strengths, highlighting the connectivity between the United States, Korea, and other destinations across Asia via Incheon International Airport, as well as opportunities for practical collaboration in developing transit tourism products.
Incheon International Airport Corporation introduced the airport’s world-class transit infrastructure, convenient transfer system, and various services available to connecting passengers, highlighting Incheon Airport’s competitiveness as a global hub and its seamless transit environment.
In addition, four local governments — Gyeongsangnam-do, Chungcheongnam-do, Jeonbuk State, and Busan — operated promotional booths showcasing their distinctive regional attractions and tourism offerings. The King Sejong Institute Center USA also supported a Korean calligraphy experience, giving attendees an opportunity to engage with Korean culture firsthand. Together, these programs allowed attendees to discover not only the convenience of traveling through Incheon Airport, but also the diverse regional destinations and cultural experiences Korea has to offer as a transit tourism destination.
Airline and travel industry representatives also exchanged ideas on new travel products utilizing connections through Incheon Airport and ways to further promote transit tourism in Korea, while exploring opportunities for future product development and joint marketing initiatives.
