Pender County Announces Corrections to Town of Burgaw and Town of Atkinson Tax Bills

Pender County is notifying property owners within the Town of Burgaw and Town of Atkinson of an error identified on recently issued printed tax bills.

Recently adopted N.C. SL 2026-8 - S.B. 889 required 2026 tax values to revert to previous values, postponing new values until 2027 tax bills. During this conversion, the previous tax rates were restored, so jurisdictions with tax rate changes show the prior rate on their bill. Properties impacted are those with rate changes, within the Town of Burgaw and the Town of Atkinson. The Town of Burgaw tax rate went from $0.60 to $0.64 and the Town of Atkinson Solid Waste fee went from $199.20 to $249.00.

To ensure affected property owners receive accurate information, Pender County will mail updated notices to impacted property owners reflecting the corrected tax information. The County’s goal is to complete the corrections and mail updated notices by next week.

Pender County regrets any confusion or inconvenience this error may have caused and appreciates the patience and understanding of affected property owners as we work to ensure accurate tax information is provided.

Property owners with questions about their tax statement are encouraged to contact the Pender County Tax Office for assistance. The office is located at 803 S. Walker St. in Burgaw and can be reached at 910-259-1222. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
